An interview with Brasstronaut’s Edo Van Breemen

Last week, I had the chance to catch up with Edo Van Breemen from the Vancouver-based rock group Brasstronaut.

It was an interesting chat. Van Breemen’s day had been so insane (Brasstronaut’s bass player had a baby that afternoon) he’d hardly eaten. When I met him, he had to play his show at St. James Hall in an hour and a half’s time, so we decided to talk while he ate some exceptional sushi at Kitstaya Sushi. During our conversation, the chef created us a plate of what he called “The Chef’s Special,” which was shaped like a pineapple but had strips of avocado on the outside and spicy tuna on the inside. So crazy!

Other than sushi-talk, Van Breemen and I discussed the band’s new disc Mount Chimera as well as their invitation to record at Sigur Ros’ studio.

Listen to the interview below.
