About

Welcome to The Indie Files.

My name is Amanda Ash, and I’m a COPA-nominated and SNCR-nominated freelance journalist based out of Vancouver, BC.

I received my Master of Journalism Degree from the University of British Columbia in the spring of 2010.

I’m currently a writer for the  Vancouver SunExclaim! Magazine and The Block Magazine, among others.

From September 2009 to June 2010, I worked for CBC Radio 3 to create the Canadian Music Wiki.

In the fall of 2010, I was a nominee for a Canadian Online Publishing Award (COPA) in the category of Best Community Feature for my work on the Wiki, and a nominee for the 2010 Society for New Communications Research (SNCR) for their Excellence in New Communications Awards for my work on the Wiki.

I am also a juror for the Polaris Music Prize.

The Indie Files is a music blog dedicated to Canadian independent music. Here you’ll find exclusive band interviews, album reviews, full-length audio interviews, videos, music downloads and contests to keep you up-to-date with Canada’s growing independent music scene.

I hope you enjoy the site. Thanks for reading.
